Question by Chase: Why are the reapers trying to destroy the universe in the Mass Effect trilogy?
I have played through both Mass Effect 1 and 2 but the one thing that I never understood (or maybe just missed) is why do the reapers “have to” destroy all organic life every cycle?

Answer by Michael Forman
In Mass Effect, they don’t explain it very well. However, Mass Effect 2 gives a hint of why the Reapers are destroying the universe. Remember the Human Reaper in Mass Effect 2? In order for that thing to work, the Reapers had the Collecters take human colonists and gather their genetic materials. The genetic materials is the “gas” that starts up the Human Reaper. The Reapers “harvest” every 50000 years. The galaxy would be full of the genetic materials the Reapers use to replenish them selves. After that, they destroy the galaxy to remove any evidence that they existed or will return. The Protheans were just lucky and got a message through to Shepard.

Question by Stg: What is a probe in mass effect 3 and why do you scan?
I’m sorry probably a stupid question but I have never played any of the mass effect games before and I understand that you scan to look for something, but what, and you just drop the probe to pick it up or?
Please any help, surprisingly I can’t find it on google and it’s really aggravating me >_< Best answer:

Answer by MissWoWGeek
If you’ve played Mass Effect 2, forget everything about that probing system- they’ve totally changed it for ME3.

First of all, artifacts and other things you scan for are almost always in reaper-controlled systems (if its not, youll have a quest for it). You go into any planet in the system, and scan till you find something (it will be a red circle around the planet or debris). Be careful though- At 2 or three scans the Reapers become alerted to the Normandys presence and chase you.

When you hit something, you then have a probe option. If you click on the planet/debris it will bring up a detailed description of the object and you’ll finally see the probe option. Follow the reticule until you find a big white dot and send your probe.

When you probe the spot, you will automatically acquire whatever it was (fuel, artifacts, War Assets) as indicated in the bottom right hand corner. Beware though, there seems to be a bug that prevents you from acquiring the item if you exit the planet before it pops up in the bottom right!

The percentages you see under system and planet names indicated what percent of items you have discovered (eg if it says 33% and you’ve found one thing, there are 2 more waiting in that area). If there’s only two items in a system, it’s always one planet and one area of space that gives fuel.

When the reapers come for you, run away and they will reset once you have completed a mission.

Question by I believe you owe me : Will Mass Effect 3 let you choose what your character is going to be like?
I heard that Mass Effect 3 will not let you choose what your character is like. You can’t choose what dialog you want to say, and there will be no more paragon or renegade actions. Shepard does all the talking on his own. I hope this isn’t true.

Clearly this isn’t true. The Mass Effect series’ ace in the hole has always been the ability to choose your own journey across the galaxy. It would be developer suicide if they took this unique trait away.

Question by JFarr74: What is the best class to play as in Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer if I always play as a Soldier in the campaign?
Ever since the original Mass Effect, I always played the Soldier class. Should I stick with the Soldier class during multiplayer, or move to another class like Sentiel or Engineer? Plus, the guns I like to use (since we only get to use 2 guns) are the assault rifle and either the pistol or shotgun (if it counts for anything).

mass effect 3 vanguard with only the first SMG you rush to them, punch them and shot once and you kill everything. you can also get from one end of the map to the other in 1 sec. up grade only your passive tree and you biotic charge. you will have to use your gun in the last 2 wave so don’t just jump into a swarm of enemys. and always look before you leap

Question by jcgonzmo: How should I play the Mass Effect series?
I have never played a Mass Effect. I want to start now. I have two options. First, play the entire trilogy on Xbox 360. Second, play the first game on Xbox 360 or PC and the second and third on PS3. What would you recommend?

Best answer:

Answer by Gamin Alex
Play the entire trilogy on the Xbox 360. It’ll be easiest to play there. And be prepared for a long and thoroughly enjoyable endeavor: the games are long but every moment of it is utterly amazing. Only have to wait another 8 months for Mass Effect 3.

Question by Lauren: How do you get Liara to join your team in Mass Effect 2?
My brother has been playing Mass Effect 2. It tells him in his journal that he needs to come back later and see if she has anything else to do for him. What does he need to do to get her in his party.

Best answer:

Answer by Dallas Odonnell
you cannot get her in your party, all you can do is help her with her problem with the shadow broker. If you have the shadow broker DLC you are able to have her in your party for that exact mission but after that mission is complete she will not join you for *spoiler reason* but you can invite her onto the ship to remissness about old times. (the only times she is a full companion is in mass effect 1 and mass effect 3)
